Bronte

Location & Overview

Ranked as one of Australia's top suburbs with it family-friendly lifestyle, lush parkland and spectacular beaches and just 7 kilometres east of the CBD, the irresistible suburb of Bronte s on everyone's wish list.

Traditional & History

The traditional custodians of the land are the Gadigal, Bidjigal, and Birrabirragal people. Bronte is named after a town in Sicily, Italy which is equally popular with celebrities and locals today. Situated. An easy way to explore Bronte is on the Bondi to Coogee Coastal Walk, a 6km track that takes in both beaches and their beautiful coastal surrounds. The outstanding Waverley Cemetery opened in 1877 is along the section between Bronte and Clovelly and many eminent Australians are buried here on top of the cliffs, including literary figures Henry Lawson and Dorothea Mackellar, and aviation pioneer Lawrence Hargrave.

Housing

The ocean might steal the show, but it's far from the only visually stunning element in Bronte. Large Californian bungalows sit alongside Federation and Gothic-style homes and art deco apartments. Contemporary architectural feats are the closest you'll get to large-scale developments that would take away from Bronte's beachy charm.

Recreation and Amenities

Bronte is at the heart of Sydney's sun and surf culture and is a great spot to spend the day. The self-proclaimed home to one of the oldest surf lifesaving club in the world and on the southern headland you'll find Bronte Baths, a heritage ocean pool constructed in 1887, as well as the Bogey Hole rock pool.

Dining and Entertainment

Opposite Bronte Park, The Bogey Hole Cafe is a local institution, named after the beach's rock pool. Just up the hill, pick up some of the best sourdough in Sydney at Iggy's Bread or enjoy Modern Australian meets Creole fare at nearby Wet Paint Restaurant.
